Experts of the Forensic expert kollegium carry out vibration diagnostics, which belong to one of the types of non-destructive testing.
One of the objects of vibration diagnostics are stationary turbines (turbine units) used at thermal power plants.
The assessment of the vibration state of the turbine units for compliance with the permissible vibration values is carried out according to the results of measurements carried out during operation in a steady state. A mode is considered a steady state when the controlled performance indicators reach constant values at a given load, and the values of all mode parameters do not go beyond the limits established by the operating instructions.
In the course of vibration diagnostics of turbines (turbine units), the experts of the Forensic expert kollegium are assigned to the following tasks:
- to identify faults at the initial stage of their development;
- to carry out vibration monitoring of the current state;
- to carry out preventive maintenance of malfunctions to prevent possible emergencies.
Based on the analysis of expert practice, the main defects that can be detected during vibration diagnostics of turbines (turbine units) are:
- imbalance (imbalance) of the rotor;
- misalignment (shaft runout);
- runout of the impeller;
- impeller defects;
- flow heterogeneity.
Vibration diagnostics allows to assess the actual state of turbines (turbine units) in order to optimize the cost of repair and maintenance. The actual condition of the turbine unit may affect the operating limitations associated with vibration. These restrictions take the following forms:
- warning - to indicate that vibration or vibration changes have reached a certain level where remedial action may be required. As a rule, when the warning level is reached, the machine can be operated for a certain period of time, while the investigation of the causes of vibration changes is being carried out and a set of necessary measures is determined;
- stop - to determine the vibration value, above which further use of the machine may lead to its damage. When the stop level is reached, take immediate action to reduce vibration or stop the machine. In order to analyze vibration, the level of which gradually increases towards the shutdown level, special measures should be taken, for example, to reduce the operating speed or the load of the installation, which will stabilize the vibration at a constant or lower level.
It should be noted that the results obtained in the course of мibration diagnostics of turbines (turbine units) make it possible to take timely measures regarding the functioning equipment and prevent the occurrence of dangerous situations.
