The Forensic expert kollegium conducts expertise of cogeneration plants both in a judicial and pre-trial order.
Cogeneration plants (gas piston CHPPs) are modern high-tech and energy-saving equipment, the main purpose of which is to generate electricity and heat from various types of gaseous fuels: natural gas, various biogas, mine, blast furnace, coke oven gas and other types of gas. Since the issue of energy saving is currently especially relevant, cogeneration plants have become widespread, in particular, they are used to generate energy:
- at factories;
- at industrial enterprises;
- in administrative centers;
- in residential buildings;
- in the field of agriculture;
- in hospitals, hotels, etc.
Cogeneration systems consist of the following main parts:
- internal combustion engine (main);
- electric generator;
- heat exchanger;
- control module.
Usually, the need for an expertise of cogeneration units arises in the following cases:
- if there is a dispute between the supplier (representative of the manufacturer) of the equipment and the user about the quality of the goods (equipment);
- if it is necessary to establish the causes of defects or malfunctions of equipment;
- at the request of equipment suppliers or insurance companies, if it is necessary to confirm a warranty or insured event of failure of individual parts or assemblies;
- if it is necessary to carry out current diagnostics of the existing equipment (at the request of users);
- for the purpose of evaluating equipment, as well as the cost of refurbishment.
The expertise of cogeneration units is carried out by qualified and certified specialists in the field of non-destructive testing, materials science, mechanical engineering, internal combustion engines, and electrical engineering.
During the cogeneration unit expertise, the specialists of the Forensic expert kollegium are usually asked to:
- determine the cause of equipment failure;
- determine the nature of the identified defects (production or operational);
- determine the possibility of eliminating the existing damage;
- determine the list of damaged units;
- determine the cost of refurbishing equipment.
