After careful dismantling of buildings and structures containing metal structures, in most cases it is advisable not to dispose these structures as ferrous scrap, but to consider the possibility of reusing these metal structures for the construction of objects of the same or lower complexity class.
During operation, metal structures are exposed to load and corrosion, which can lead to a number of defects (a defect, according to SN 1.04.01-2020, is each individual non-compliance of the building and its individual elements with the established requirements):
- unacceptable deflection of metal structures;

The intensity of these defects depends on the quality of engineering, manufacture or construction of the structures, physical wear, aggressive environmental influences, violations of operating rules, etc.

For the possibility of use, a detailed check and examination is necessary, which will identify all defects, determine the suitability of these metal structures for further use or methods for eliminating defects.
