The Forensic expert kollegium conducts expertise of all types of computer equipment.
Based on the analysis of the expert practice of the Forensic expert kollegium, the most common defects in liquid-crystal monitors (screens of laptops, netbooks, tablets and similar devices) are:
- inability to turn on the monitor;
- after turning on, the monitor enters the standby mode;
- spontaneous shutdown of the monitor;
- low-quality image or its absence on the screen (the image is very dim, periodically flickers or disappears completely, colors are distorted, there are areas of a lighter or darker image, etc.);
- destruction of the protective glass of the monitor.
The most common causes of malfunction of liquid-crystal monitors are:
- premature failure of parts directly involved in creating an image on the screen: TV signal decoders, backlights, DC/AC inverters, power supplies, etc., due to poor quality of their manufacture (manufacturing defect);
- improper operation and maintenance (mechanical damage, water or other liquids and foreign objects inside the monitor) (operational defect);
- natural aging of electronic components (physical wear when the service life exceeds the standard service life);
- malfunctions of monitors caused by the proximity of a source of strong magnetic radiation (operational defect);
- manufacturing defect in the form of damaging the pixels in the matrix (manufacturing defect);
- repair by unqualified personnel (manufacturing defect).
