The Forensic expert kollegium conducts expertise of all types of cranes and mechanisms.
Lifting cranes and mechanisms are dangerous industrial objects, the failures of which cause accidents or technical incidents. The most common failures of cranes and mechanisms in expert practice are:
- unacceptable deflection (plastic destruction) of the boom of a crane or truck derrick;
- overturning of a crane or truck derrick;
- jamming of drives;
- destruction of welded joints.
Based on the expert practice of the Forensic expert kollegium, the main causes of destruction of cranes and mechanisms are:
- unacceptable combination of boom lift and reach angles (with faulty lift sensors (limiters) as a contributing factor);
- improper installation of supports or installation of counterweights;
- the use of inappropriate materials in the design of load-bearing elements (the use at the production stage, contrary to the design documentation, of steels of other grades or steels with inadequate strength characteristics due to violations of heat treatment technological operations);
- lifting loads with a weight exceeding the maximum permissible;
- the presence of defects in welded joints formed at the repair or production stage;
- excessive corrosive physical wear of structural elements of lifting cranes and mechanisms and their welded joints;
- mechanical impact on the structure of a lifting crane or mechanism of nearby elements of buildings and structures or trees due to an error by the crane operator (operator of the lifting mechanism).
The lifting cranes and mechanisms expertise is carried out by staff members of the Forensic expert kollegium, certified in various types of non-destructive testing.
