The Forensic expert kollegium conducts psychological examinations, including polygraph examinations, to identify facts of adultery.

Psychological examinations for identifying the facts of adultery are carried out only with the voluntary consent of the person suspected of adultery.

When ordering a special psychological examination using a contact polygraph to identify the facts of adultery, both spouses need to assess the risks associated with the results of the examination, both in the case of adultery and in the case of groundless jealousy of one of the spouses. Regardless of the results of computer testing on a polygraph of the suspected of adultery, relationships in the family can change irreversibly, so the examination should be a conscious choice of each of the spouses.

The Forensic expert kollegium does not conduct a polygraph examination if, at the stage of concluding an agreement or a pre-examinational conversation, facts of physical violence (or threats of violence) against the suspected spouse are detected, when one of the spouses is in an uncontrolled state of passion.

Nobody besides the polygraph examiner and the person being tested is under any circumstances allowed to be in the office of the polygraph examiner during the examination. Also, in order to prevent violence, neither spouse is given the video recording of the interview procedure when using a polygraph. The customer of this special psychophysiological study should take into account that the conclusion of the polygraph examiner will only confirm or refute the fact of adultery, all other facts revealed during the polygraph examination or during the interview of the polygraph examiner with the examined person will remain in secret.

Before conducting a special psychological polygraph examination to identify the facts of adultery, the customer of the test determine and clearly specify the criteria for adultery (kissing, physical caresses, sexual intercourse, purposeful flirting), as well as the probable period of adultery. The Forensic expert kollegium does not conduct a computer polygraph test to identify the facts of sexual fantasies or “sinful” thoughts. During the special psychological polygraph examination, only the fact of committing acts of adultery according to pre-formalized criteria is determined.

Psychological examination to identify the facts of adultery can be carried out in various volumes and include:

  • cognitive interview;
  • analysis of facial movements (FACS);
  • examination on a contact polygraph;
  • other methods of psychological tests.
  • As a rule, the use of three or more research methods with the reproducibility of their results increases the reliability of the specialist's conclusions.

Before ordering a polygraph test, spouses should also carefully read the contraindications for a polygraph examination.

The Forensic expert kollegium is the first forensic institution in the Republic of Belarus that provides services for conducting special psychological examinations (tests) using a polygraph, which has successfully passed the certification of the management system for compliance with the requirements of the new version of the state standard STB ISO 9001-2015.
