Experts of the Forensic expert kollegium carry out vibration diagnostics, which belong to one of the types of non-destructive testing.
One of the objects of vibration diagnostics are various systems consisting of a motor and a drive.
While carrying out vibration diagnostics of electric motors and diesel generators, the experts of the Forensic expert kollegium measure the following parameters:
- rms acceleration values;
- rms speed values;
- rms displacement values.
Measurements are carried out for systems at operating temperature, rated generator speed in zero and rated power modes. If the rated power mode is unattainable for a given generating set, measurements are carried out in the maximum achievable power mode. The advantage of vibration diagnostics is that in order to obtain results, there is no need to stop the operating equipment and disassemble it in order to study the internal structure.
Based on the analysis of the expert practice of the Forensic expert kollegium, the main defects that can be detected during vibration diagnostics of electric motors and diesel generators are:
- misalignment of the motor and drive shafts;
- backlash and beating in connecting elements;
- inconsistency of installation and connection dimensions;
- improper installation of vibration dampers.
The measurement results obtained in the course of vibration diagnostics of electric motors and diesel generators make it possible to draw conclusions about the current vibration state of the diagnostics object and the mutual influence of vibration of its components.
Among other things, the specialists of the Forensic expert kollegium carry out vibration diagnostics of the technical condition of gas and diesel power plants produced by «Caterpillar», followed by the preparation and issuance of a technical report on the vibration state of power plants.
