The Forensic expert kollegium carries out expertise of all types of pipelines.

Technological pipelines are used in all industries and are designed to transport a wide range of liquid and gaseous substances, including aggressive ones, in a wide range of pressures (from 0.1 MPa to 10 MPa and more), temperatures (from cryogenic - below minus 150 ° С , up to high - over 300 ° C), are made from a wide range of materials (steel, non-ferrous metal alloys, ceramic, polymer materials, etc.).

Examples of technological pipelines are: ammonia pipelines, acetylene pipelines, water pipelines, steam pipelines, oil pipelines, etc.

In technological pipelines defects appear due to the violation of the manufacturing technology of pipes and fittings, the rules for performing installation work and operation. The presence of such defects can lead to equipment failures, as well as incidents and accidents.

The most common defects in the process pipelines are:

  • Manufacturing defects - improper manufacture of pipes, pipeline fittings (inconsistency of the materials and products used in the manufacture of pipelines with the requirements of engineering documentation and technical regulatory legal acts, including inconsistency in the chemical composition, physical and mechanical properties of materials, inconsistency in the geometric parameters of products).
  • Installation defects - improper welding and other types of installation work (installation of supports, assembly of flange connections, etc.).
  • Operational defects - unacceptable external mechanical influences and damage, violation of the rules for the operation of installations, including failure to ensure the specified parameters of the working environment, other unskilled actions of personnel.

Most often, when conducting an expertise of technological pipelines, the following questions are answered:

  • What are the reasons for the destruction (damage) of the pipeline?
  • Does the quality of the material (welding, installation work) comply with the requirements of technical regulatory legal acts?
  • Has there been a violation of the rules for the operation of technological pipelines and are they in a causal relationship with the occurrence of an accident (incident)?

The expertise of technological pipelines at the Forensic expert kollegium are carried out by qualified experts in the field of the engineering and safe operation of technological pipelines together with certified specialists in non-destructive testing (visual, capillary, ultrasonic methods).

To conduct an examination of technological pipelines, it is advisable to provide the experts of the Forensic expert kollegium with the most complete set of engineering, project and operational documentation. In some cases, for example, in the case of carrying out non-destructive testing of welded joints by visual and ultrasonic methods, it is necessary to prepare the investigated surfaces for inspection, namely: cleaning, stripping, etc.

If necessary, when carrying out an expertise of technological pipelines, experts of the Forensic expert kollegium perform engineering strength calculations. Calculations of the strength properties of technological pipelines are carried out using licensed software - the KOMPAS 3D-V16 computer-aided engineering system with the APM FEM strength analysis system.
