The Forensic expert kollegium provides services for conducting all types of photographic technical examination. The purpose of such examination is to detect photo manipulation, identify and classify objects present in the image, as well as determine the equipment used to produce the image.
The objects of photographic technical examinatione include:
- photographs, motion picture films, negatives, video frames, cameras, as well as other materials.
Tasks of photographic technical examination:
- identification of photographic and cinematographic equipment, as well as laboratory equipment used;
- identification of terrain areas, premises, and objects based on negatives and positives, images in photographs, motion picture films, or video recordings;
- determination of shooting and processing conditions of the materials obtained;
- determination of object sizes and distances between them;
- detection of photographic editing and retouching, identification of negatives and positives based on prints.
Requirements for materials submitted for examination:
- When submitting photographs for examination, it is necessary to clearly indicate which specific object captured in the image is the subject of the examination, as well as to specify the time intervals of the video recording (if available) containing the object under examination. If necessary, specialized software required for reproducing the materials shall be provided to the expert.
Questions addressed during photographic technical examinatione:
- Are there any signs of editing in the submitted images?
- Were the submitted images produced using the same equipment?
- Do the submitted images depict the same object?
