The Forensic expert kollegium conducts examinations of all types of fibrous materials and products made from them.
The objects of examination of fibrous materials include:
- products made of textile materials: clothing items, twisted and woven products (cords, ropes, etc.), covers, upholstery of furniture and car seats, household items (bed linen, curtains, bedspreads, etc.), as well as fragments of these items in the form of individual clothing parts, pieces of fabric and knitwear;
- remains from the burning of clothing items and other fibrous products;
- micro-particles of fibers, fragments of threads, twisted and woven products remaining at the scene, on clothing;
- case materials containing information about the circumstances related to the subject of the examination (records of investigative and other procedural actions, diagrams, tables of photographs), materials of previously conducted examinations and studies, reference information.
The tasks of examination of fibrous materials and products made from them include:
- determination of the type, composition and method of manufacture of fibrous materials and products made from them;
- establishing the presence and location (localization) of micro-particles of textile fibers on an object, determining their nature;
- establishing the common generic (group) affiliation of the submitted samples of fibrous materials and products made from them;
- establishing the fact of contact interaction of fibrous materials and products made from them with each other and with other objects;
- identification of a whole object made of fibrous materials by its separated parts;
- restoration (reconstruction) of the original appearance and determination of the intended purpose of fibrous materials and products made from them based on their altered remains;
- examination of burned remains of fibrous materials and products made from them.
