The Forensic expert kollegium conducts thermal imaging examinations of buildings and structures.
The Forensic expert kollegium provides the following thermal imaging examination services:
- thermal imaging examination of apartments and private houses (detection of thermal bridges and defects in enclosing structures, monitoring the possible growth of mold, precise localization of leaks in the roofs of buildings);
- examination and diagnosis of hidden communications (heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, hidden wiring, searching for hidden heating pipes and heated floors, detecting pipeline breaks);
- checking the quality of installation of windows and double-glazed windows.
Thermal imaging examination (thermal method of non-destructive testing) is used to monitor the condition of building envelopes and diagnose electrical and thermal-mechanical equipment. Thermal imaging is carried out using special devices - thermal imagers, which allow you to photograph an object in the infrared wavelength range with the receipt and further analysis of thermograms, which allows you to assess total and partial heat losses and identify defects in the thermal protection of buildings and structures. The picture of the distribution of temperature fields obtained using a thermal imager provides sufficient information to draw conclusions about the presence or absence of the following defects:
- cracks and defects in brickwork and plaster;
- peeling of plaster, cladding and other coatings;
- areas with high moisture content;
- violations in seams and joints between prefabricated structures;
- poor-quality sealing of panel cracks;
- places of air and water leaks;
- heat loss through ventilation systems;
- increased heat loss through the basement floor;
- poor-quality installation of window blocks and openings;
- air infiltration through cracks in the junction of window sashes;
- insufficient insulation of the slopes of window openings;
- insufficient connection of the window frame to the wall.
Also, using thermal imaging, you can search for hidden heating pipes (underfloor heating pipes) and diagnose hidden communications. Thermal imaging examination (diagnostics) is suitable for residential buildings and cottages, offices and administrative buildings, as well as for other objects. The advantage of thermal imaging inspection is the ability to identify various types of damage and structural defects at an early stage.
In the process of conducting a thermal imaging examination of building envelopes, a number of physical parameters necessary to obtain correct data must be observed. Therefore, the timing of the examination depends on the following weather conditions and time of the day:
- To perform a thermal imaging examination, a temperature difference between indoors and outdoors of at least 15° C is required;
- Thermal imaging examination is carried out in conditions as close as possible to stationary ones, i.e. the building envelope must be in actual operating conditions;
- the surfaces being examined should not be in the area of solar radiation, i.e. inspection of the external walls of the building is carried out in the early morning hours before sunrise or in the evening after sunset.
