The Forensic expert kollegium measures and determines the insulation of airborne noise by internal and external enclosing structures in natural conditions.
The premises in which the measurement of airborne noise insulation by internal enclosing structures is carried out must consist of two horizontally or vertically adjacent rooms, between which the tested structure (interfloor floor or wall partition) is located. The volume of adjacent rooms must be at least 25 m3, linear dimensions must be at least 2.3 m.
To measure airborne noise insulation by external enclosing structures, only one room is used, the volume of which must be at least 25 m3, and its linear dimensions must be at least 2.3 m.
When examining the airborne noise insulation of an interfloor ceiling, there should be no furniture in the center of each living room in the upper and lower premises, and, in addition, the carpeting should be removed from the floor of the upper room. When examining the airborne noise insulation of wall partitions, wall carpets on both sides of the adjacent wall must be removed, and access to place sound-reproducing and sound-measuring equipment must be provided at a distance of at least 2 m from the wall. The sound impact of construction tools and other noise sources with high sound power levels is unacceptable when performing airborne sound insulation measurements.
It should be noted that measuring the insulation of airborne noise by internal and external enclosing structures in natural conditions, taking into account the settings of the diffuse field in a room with a high sound level, takes quite a long time, and in the process of measurements in a room with a high sound level, a high-volume sound field is created in the frequency range most receptive to human ear. Since the process of measuring airborne noise insulation in natural conditions is accompanied by loud, prolonged and extremely unpleasant noise, it is not recommended to have children, sick people, people with disorders of the nervous and cardiovascular systems, or pets in the apartments of the tested residential premises.
When ordering the service of measuring airborne noise insulation by internal and external enclosing structures in natural conditions, the customer must provide technical passports for adjacent premises.
Before each series of measurements, all sound level meters are calibrated. All measuring instruments of the Forensic expert kollegium used in acoustic measurements are included in the State register of measuring instruments of the Republic of Belarus and have undergone proper state verification in accredited laboratories of the State standard of the Republic of Belarus.
If necessary, specialists from the Forensic expert kollegium can also conduct an acoustic analysis of building envelopes.
