The Forensic expert kollegium carries out noise certification of the heating unit:

• when commissioning new residential, public and industrial buildings;
• after repair work on pumping equipment or after replacing pipelines;
• in case of improper work of the heating unit equipment during the operation of the building, accompanied by an increased noise level.

In the latter case, noise measurements from the heating unit are carried out at the request of both legal entities and individuals.

Improper operation of pumping equipment and boilers (water heaters) can lead to increased noise levels in the mid and low frequencies, as well as high levels of infrasound. Improper welding of pipe connections can result in increased noise levels in the high frequency range as well as high levels of ultrasonics.

Since, as a rule, the equipment of a heating unit is located in basements or semi-basements, when new residential buildings are commissioned, measurements are taken in all living rooms of apartments located on the ground floor at the shortest distance from the heating unit. When commissioning new public buildings, the number and location of control points on the ground floor are determined depending on the functional purpose of the building premises and the explication of the premises.

A necessary condition for noise certification of heating unit equipment is the complete cessation of all construction work in the building and in the surrounding area during acoustic measurements. During noise certification, the customer of acoustic measurements assumes the following obligations:

• neutralization of all main sources of noise except for the equipment of the heating unit;
• ensuring continuous operation of all equipment of the heating unit in normal mode.

If it is impossible to ensure any of the above conditions, the customer of acoustic measurements will pay additionally for the repeated visit of sound level experts.

When ordering noise certification of heating unit equipment, the customer must submit in the application:

• diagram of the basement with installed heating unit equipment;
• floor plan of the first floor.

Before each series of measurements, all sound level meters are calibrated. All measuring instruments of the Forensic expert kollegium used in acoustic measurements are included in the State register of measuring instruments of the Republic of Belarus and have undergone proper state verification in accredited laboratories of the State standard of the Republic of Belarus.
